Bono Accident: Will U2 Singer Ever Play Guitar Again After Bicycle Accident?

Ever since news of the Bono accident first came out to the public a few months back, many have wondered about the star's health and ability to perform in concerts afterwards - now, the latest statements point to the fact that the famous philanthropist might never be able to play guitar again.

Fans around the world of longtime Irish band U2 and music in general have heard very sad news at the beginning of 2015: in recent news, it was stated that due to Bono's accident, the "With or Without You" singer might never be able to play the guitar again.

Bono, real name Paul David Hewson, is very worried that the bicycle accident that left him five hours in surgery late last year might disable him from playing musical instruments in the future; it's said that Bono's accident was considerably more serious than had been first thought.

According to The Guardian, the singer posted a heartfelt statement in the U2 website recounting 2014 and particularly Bono's accident, which has had a bigger impact on his health than the singer and bandleader previously thought.

"Recovery has been more difficult than I thought ..." the singer wrote on the U2 website. "As I write this, it is not clear that I will ever play guitar again. The band have reminded me that neither they nor western civilization are depending on this."

However, as The Independent notes, it's been a while since Bono has played guitar regularly on the band: when U2 was first starting out, he was the main guitarist, but these days he'll perform it more occasionally. However, it's obviously a big blow for the singer, who's been part of the band for more than thirty years.

However, according to Time Magazine, U2's accident will seemingly not prevent him from going on tour with the band for their album "Songs of Innocence," though it's reported that he'll have to work hard to be fit for the tour.
