A car part removed from arm of a 75-year-old man from Illinois after it was mounted into his arm for 51 years was unbelievable. Arthur Lampitt from Granite City had a tragic accident when his brand new 1963 Thunderbird hit into a truck. It was only on Dec. 31, 2014 that a car part removed from arm of the man.
After an outpatient procedure, Dr. Timothy Lang had the car part removed from arm of the 75-year-old Arthur Lampitt. The operation took 45 minutes and the surgeon had the car part removed a 7-inch turn signal lever from the Ford Thunderbird he was driving.
During the horrific 1963 accident, Lampitt's Thunderbird smashed into a truck that broke his hips. He has only few scratches and he had no idea that anything could still be embedded in his arm. It was only few years ago that he discovered that something was there in his arm after he walked through a metal detector.
He didn't have the car part removed from arm that time after doctors revealed that it was fine since it didn't cause any pain or infection. He had x-ray to ensure that everything is normal. However, some days back while he was renovating an apartment, he experienced severe pain from his arm.
It was then he decided to have the car part removed from arm. The 75-year-old man from Illinois went through surgery to have the car part removed from arm at City Place Plastic Surgery Center in Creve Coeur, Missouri, on Wednesday Huffington Post reported.
According to CBC, before the car part removed from arm, Lampitt had no idea what was hurting him. He was thinking that it may be a medical instrument during his operation in 1963.
But after gathering and searching for old photos, he discovered that a metal blinker was missing from the car. He thought it was the thing embedded in his arm and he decided to have the operation done.
Everyone was amazed how the 7-inch turn signal lever from the Ford Thunderbird was embedded into his arm without any problem for 51 years. At 75, he had the car part removed from his arm. It was a miracle he stayed healthy throughout those years. Whatever it is, the car part was removed from his arm.
