Stephen Colbert CBS: Before ‘Late Show,’ Host Makes Network Debut On 37th Annual Kennedy Center Honors!

Things are looking great for the former Comedy Central talk show host and future "Late Show" host: now, Stephen Colbert's CBS debut shows the popular "Daily Show" alum working is magic while hosting the 37th Annual Kennedy Center Honors.

The world is preparing for watching Stephen Colbert on CBS every night, so the popular network decided to give fans a preview of what's ahead by making the famous talk show host perform as the emcee in his very first event for the network, this year's Annual Kennedy Center Honors.

According to website PlayBill, the new Stephen Colbert CBS gig will be featuring the famous comedian and consummate geek hosting the awards, which will be broadcast on December 30 even though they were first recorded by the beginning of the month, on December 7.

This will be the first time that Stephen Colbert's CBS contract will be showing, a few months before David Letterman's official retirement, which is set to happen at some point of the next spring, though it is still unclear when his last show as host of "The Late Show" will be airing.

As The Daily Herald reports, the 37th Annual Kennedy Center Honors is a yearly event that salutes some of the biggest names in different stances of the performing arts, honoring some of the greatest in show business. This year, the recipients will include screen legends Tom Hanks and Lily Tomlin, recording stars Sting and Al Green and also New Jersey ballerina Patricia McBride.

As the event itself already took place a few weeks ago, different news outlets have already "spoiled" some of the fun expected to air tonight, like Post-Gazette saying that there was a little bit of a mid-show business between classic CBS host Letterman and new blood Stephen Colbert, and, of course, some insanely fun reactions from First Couple, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

In any case, don't forget to tune in tonight for the first official Stephen Colbert CBS gig!
