Ever since the first announcement of the television series in the Cinematic Universe set to premiere on Netflix, rumors have flown all about the Internet regarding who would be playing who; following the announcement of "Breaking Bad" star Krysten Ritter as the namesake for "Jessica Jones," Luke Cage of Marvel now officially has a face as well.
According to Deadline, the announcement regarding the casting of Luke Cage of Marvel had been greatly rumored in the past few months, with the same magazine having said beforehand that he seemed to be a shoe-in for the role after Ritter was officially announced to play traumatized superhero turned detective.
The character Luke Cage of Marvel is among the most popular for diehard superhero fans. Created in 1972, the character's background in the comics is that of a man incarcerated for a crime he didn't commit, ultimately gaining the superpowers of unbreakable skin and superhuman strength after being experimented on during his time in prison - not to mention, he's the frequent collaborator and lover of Jessica Jones.
The upcoming "A.K.A. Jessica Jones" will premiere next year on Netflix, after the release of their "Daredevil" show, according to The Verge. Colter's Luke Cage is set to appear in a few episodes before getting his own series, which remains untitled at this point.
In any case, Luke Cage of Marvel will be seeing his all-time premiere at some point of 2015 - it is still unclear when the upcoming Netflix shows will be premiering, according to AV Club. But it's still great to see just how many fun superhero movies and shows are coming up starting next year!
