The Boston Celtics for years have been trying to trade point guard Rajon Rondo. A recent report shows that the Dallas Mavericks are currently considering picking up the point guard and add him in their roster.
Currently, the Dallas Mavericks is in dire need of a good point guard who can defend the perimeter and the one time NBA champion Rajon Rondo is just what they are looking for.
NBA reporter Adrian Wojnarowski reports that a potential deal of bringing the Ronjo into Mark Cuban's team is currently heading into the right direction. Danny Ainge, Boston Celtics GM is trying to rebuild Boston's lineup for quite some time already and it shows that their move to get rid of Rondo is simply shows that the overhaul will change the teams overall fundamentals.
Theoretically, if you look it on paper, the Dallas Mavericks doesn't have enough cash to offer the Celtics in order to obtain the star point guard. Rondo, has the possibility of becoming a free agent next summer, that is if Boston will not consider signing him up again. This season Rondo is averaging 8.3 points per game, 7.5 rebounds per game and dishing 10.8 assists per game. The Celtics will definitely miss the playoff this year with a 9-14 record.
Rumors have it that the Mavs might be considering trading their first round pick Brandan Wright along with a combination of Jameer Nelson, J.J. Barea or Raymond Felton. The big question right now is not about Mavs inclination towards acquiring Rondo, but rather, what do they have to offer in order to appease GM Ainge to trade his most valued player?
Acquiring Rondo from the Celtics might be out of reach but if the Mavs really want a great playmaker, they have to move heaven and earth to and pray that whatever they have right now is enough to convince GM Ainge in getting rid of Rondo.
