Rumors that Malia Obama is pregnant have been going around the web for the past few weeks, but is it all true or is it just an Internet hoax to freak out members of the White House while they're dealing with heavier topics?
As the daughters of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, daughters Malia and Sasha have been subject to rumors since their dad first landed in the big house on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue - and now, the latest thing to have hit the web is saying that 16 year-old Malia Obama is pregnant.
Now, is it true that Malia Obama is pregnant or is it just the subject of rumors? According to The Inquisitr, the rumor regarding Malia Obama's supposed baby first started in November, after a humor website published the story, saying it'd been "confirmed" that the daughter was 16 and pregnant.
The site, which specializes in satirical "news" stories in a matter not unlike that of The Onion, is called Empire News and, in their fake claim that Malia Obama is pregnant, also included a bit about how the "baby daddy" had left Barack Obama's daughter for "some tramp" - all while the President himself supposedly threatened the guy with sending the Secret Service after him.
Sadly enough, while the article itself was obviously a joke, other news sites have been taking it seriously in the past few days - so much that Jenna Bush, daughter of former President George W. Bush (and therefore granddaughter of President George H. W. Bush) did think the whole thing was serious and released a statement about the news that Malia Obama is pregnant.
"I'm fiercely protective of them, obviously," said Jenna Bush Hager, according to IB Times. She then added that she herself had a hard time growing up in the White House, which is why she can relate to Malia and Sasha right now.
It seems that the rumor spread after a fake Fox News page reported it on Facebook, prompting many people to share it and become confused.
