Renee Zellweger 2014 Pictures: After Plastic Surgery Scandal, Reese Witherspoon Defends ‘Bridget Jones’ [PHOTOS]

Earlier this year, Renee Zellweger's 2014 pictures first came out to the public, after the actress had taken a hiatus of five years from the film industry, and the world was in shock after seeing her face unrecognizable - now, friend Reese Witherspoon defends her fellow Oscar-winning actress.

News of Renee Zellweger's 2014 pictures first came out in late October, as the star of movies like "Chicago" and "Bridget Jones's Diary" appeared on the red carpet of Elle's Women in Hollywood Awards, and the world became shocked as she walked in looking nothing like what audiences were used to seeing her.

After the Renee Zellweger 2014 pictures came out, the actress received a lot of backlash for what many considered to be a series of plastic surgeries that had left Zellweger virtually unrecognizable. At the time, the United Kingdom paper The Mirror dedicated an entire article to asking plastic surgery experts about which procedures Zellweger may have gone through to look the way she did at the event.

"Perhaps I look different. Who doesn't as they get older?! Ha. But I am different. I'm happy," said the actress back in October, following the insane media frenzy that followed Renee Zellweger's 2014 pictures.

Other actresses have spoken out about aging in Hollywood and plastic surgery since then: most notably, Julia Roberts stated just a few weeks later that she made a risky career move by choosing not to go through plastic surgery as she got older.

Now, Reese Witherspoon has also spoken her mind about Renee Zellweger's 2014 pictures. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the woman who won an Academy Award for her portrayal of country music legend June Carter Cash in the Johnny Cash biopic "Walk the Line" defended her fellow actress over the face-shaming she has received in the media.

"It's horrible. It's cruel and rude and disrespectful, and I can go on and on and on. It bothers me immensely," said Witherspoon. "Why - and it's particularly women - why do they have to tear women down? And why do we have to tear other women down to build another woman up? It drives me crazy."

The conversation happened as the famous gossip outlet talked to Witherspoon, Amy Adams, Julianne Moore, Patricia Arquette, Laura Dern, Felicity Jones and Hilary Swank for their Actress Roundtable, where they also discussed topics like the Jennifer Lawrence nude photo leak.
