Bradley Cooper Update: Opens Up About Struggle With Addiction In Vanity Fair

Bradley Cooper has never talked about substance abuse but he recently revealed his struggled with addiction in the latest edition of Vanity Fair.

The Hollywood actor who has starred in many films and has been adored by women all over the world has talked about his addictions and also shared about how it was difficult for him to overcome the death of his father.

Cooper shares, "Losing someone close to me. Going through love and loss...knowing what's important. Realizing that the bottom line is that all I got is me, so it's about time to stop trying to be something that I think you would want me to be. Or that would give me what I think I need."

He also talked about how one gets older and although the body deteriorates, the soul continues to flourish.

As for the substance abuse, he shared, "I did it naturally because I've been sober for 10 years and didn't want to do anything. I had a realistic conversation. 'Can I do this in three months naturally? Can I gain 30 pounds of f--king muscle?' I didn't know if I would be able to do it or not. Thank God-luckily-my f--king body reacted fast." He has been sober since 2004.

This is in reference to his upcoming role in the movie "American Sniper" where he plays the role of this Navy SEAL sniper named Chris Kyle. This is a movie of Clint Eastwood and he needed to gain muscles and a lot of pounds to get ready for the role.

Aside from that, the actor also talked about the difficulties of making it in the show business. He talked about almost throwing in the towel when he performed on Broadway alongside Julia Roberts and Pail Rudd in 2006. He adds, "If this doesn't work, then I'm not supposed to do this for a living."

Cooper has since then acted for movies such as The Hangover, Silver Linings, and Alias.
