"Side Show" is back once again on Broadway and as always this show sounds fabulous directed by Bill Condon and music by Henry Krieger and Bill Russell. The story would be about the conjoined twins. They are in search for fame, love, and some sort of happiness maybe.
The show's theme focuses on two main characters named Violet and Daisy Hilton. They were cabaret stars of 1930's and this invites us to come closer and let us experience the feeling of being on their shoes. While watching you can't help yourself but to feel frustrated, love, pain, hopeful, and happy.
Well, who can't connect to the life of Violet? She wants to have a life full of contentment, but of course part of us also thirsts the kind of life like Daisy. She is big, blazing, and can stand out fearless and faceless in crowd. The twins actually tell us the fact or reality in our current condition. If we just admit it in ourselves we are somehow divided between our desires and what is needed in our lives.
Have you experienced such feeling? We sometimes feel that it is what we need to do even if it hurts us and choose this over our happiness. The "Side Show" will make us feel that we are not alone and others can feel the same feeling as we have.
Ms. Padgett will play the character of Daisy while Ms. Davie will be playing the role of Violet. The twins were born in England and they were abandoned and exploited. Their aunt sold them eventually; however Terry Connor played by Ryan Silverman will soon discovered their talents. The twins went through trainings and instructions then.
The musicality of the show is not perfect or has some flaws, but well, almost shows are. The important thing is that the show delivers the meaning or theme of the show, which is very important or else the show is empty or nonsense.
