Wedding at 32,000 Feet: Couple Weds 32,000 Feet Above Dallas

Wedding at 32,000 feet. What better way to take your relationship to new romantic heights than to get married 32,000 feet above sea level?  One couple decided to do just that and got married on a plane six miles high above the state of Dallas.

The couple surprised hundreds of passengers on board flight 4058 Nashville to Dallas love Field on November 2 when they decided to turn their flight ticket to an impromptu wedding invitation. The wedding at 32,000 feet kicked off just after takeoff when a 4 year old flower girl passed nuts to the unsuspecting passengers. Then, as music played, the bride, 38 year old Dottie Coven danced her way to the front of the plane to her groom Keith Stewart who was at the front. The plane front [proved to be quite the small front for a wedding.

"How many of you thought you were going to a wedding today?" asked Ana Schwager, Southwest's community affairs and grassroots manager, asked over the airplane's intercom communication. The crowd of 141, many of whom were unaware, was stunned.

The wedding at 32,000 feet continued with the wedding official conducting the wedding ceremony. "We are gathered here today - whether you intended to or not - to celebrate the wedding of Dottie Coven and Keith Stewart," said the officiant.

The couple then went ahead to read their wedding vows from their mobile phones. "I, Dottie, choose you Keith, to be my husband in front of our friends, our family, and random but very special guests," she said.

The officiant then asked the crowd that if anyone had cause as to why the two should not marry, then they should push their flight attendant call button, sending the passengers laughing out.

Of the 141 passengers, 30 were friends and family. The couple, which is constantly on the move due to their jobs, traded their Rapid Reward points for 30 air tickets, enabling the wedding to happen. The wedding at 32,000 feet had not been done on the airline for a decade.
