Melissa Rivers released her much awaited statement after the release of the autopsy results carried out on her mother. Melissa kept her statement short and sweet.
Coming out for a statemnet for the first tim since releasing the first statement after her mother's death, Melissa tweeted, "In response to NYC's Medical examiner's report, we continue to be saddened by our tragic loss. No further comment at this time."
Joan Rivers, mother to Melissa Rivers and former host of the show ,Fashion Police, that aired on E! died after what was to be a routine throat surgery.
The autopsy results stated that Joan was sedated using Propofol and that he main cause of death was a lack of oxygen in her brain that occurred during her unauthorised procedure. It reads, "The classification of a death as a therapeutic complication means that the death resulted from a predictable complication of medical therapy, during laryngoscopy and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy with propofol sedation for evaluation of voice changes and gastroesophageal reflux disease."
In the course of her throat procedure, a scope was used in her gastointestinal tract, during which Rivers went into cardiac arrest. She was rushed to the Mount Sinai Hospital where she was put under critical condition care. She died days later.
Melissa Rivers alleges negligence on the part of the medical facility that operated on her mother for conducting an unauthorised procedure that led to her mother's death. She is suing the facility for $100 million.
The doctor who conducted the unauthorised procedure on Joan Rivers has already been fired. Dr. Lawrence Cohen, was aked to step down by the clinic's board, although at the time, the boad was not blaming him for the star's death.
Melissa may also be suing Dr. Gwen Korovin for allowing the biopsy to be conducted on Joan Rivers. Rivers was only supposed to be undergoing a routine throat surgery.
