We all have heard of the recent innovations in the food we eat, and they are all good. From lab-grown meat to air protein, Science has dabbled with food in many ways than we can imagine. However, these innovations don't just happen in laboratories.
As Google proves it, they have found a way to create mashup desserts using artificial intelligence.
As it turned out, something or someone has been keeping tabs on all the pandemic baking going around. According to a blog published in Google Cloud, Sara Robinson, a machine-learning expert who works for Google Cloud, came up with a project idea.
This involves collecting a dataset of recipes and building a TensorFlow model that gathered lists of ingredients and created predictions.
According to Towards Data Science, machine-learning has been used for tons of innovations. To put this process to new use, Robinson and her team organized about 700 recipes covering cookies, cakes, and bread.
They standardized measurements, isolated the key ingredients, and re-categorized things like banana bread that are not really bread. All of the gathered information is then fed to an automation tool to create a machine-learning model.
The model predicts whether a specific recipe was a cookie, cake, or bread, based on its ingredient amounts. As many things in this world are, not everything fits perfectly into one category. As Robinson explained it, one recipe might turn out to be 97% bread, 2% cake, and 1% cookie.

As per Food and Wine, Robinson brilliantly thought of a solution by asking the machine-learning AI to come up with a new recipe if such ambiguities appear. As a result, the Cakie was born, which is 50% cake and 50% cookie.
Meanwhile, Robinson's colleague Dale Markowitz also tweaked their model, which resulted in a Breakie, a 50% bread, and 50% cookie. In case you want to give it a try, here is the Google Cloud Breakie recipe.
