Robin Thicke’s ‘Get Her Back’ Unsuccessful – Estranged Wife Paula Patton Files For Divorce

Robin Thicke's 'Get Her Back' was one of the singer's many attempts to gather his estranged wife's affections once more; however, the song (and the entire album he dedicated to him) proved to be unsuccessful, as Paula Patton has finally filed for divorce. Robin Thicke, of 'Get Her Back' fame, has just been hit with a divorce suit from wife Paula: she filed it last Friday in Los Angeles, citing "irreconcilable differences."

Robin Thicke's 'Get Her Back' was released earlier this year at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards last May, and it served as the lead single for his album "Paula," which was written entirely as an attempt for the singer to regain the love of his estranged wife, with whom he'd been married for 9 years after dating since they were both teenagers.

However, Robin Thicke's 'Get Her Back' and the album that took its name from his wife weren't his only strategies to win back her love: the singer made several public attempts to gather her affection to no avail, including dedicating her different performances in award shows and tour dates.

While the couple has been separated since February of this year, Thicke continued to try to win back Patton's attentions - but it seems all is efforts didn't serve their intended purpose, as the BBC reports the actress has finally filed for divorce. She asks for joint custody of the couple's only child, four-year-old son Julian Fuego Thicke.

Robin Thicke's Get Her Back and his album "Paula" weren't the only pieces of music he dedicated to his wife over the years, as she was often his inspiration when it was time for him to write lyrics. Recently, Thicke confessed the reason Patton left him was due to his drug abuse.

In the meantime, Paula Patton, an actress who's been in big films like Precious and Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol goes back to work, and it's rumored that she'll also star in the next installment of the Mission: Impossible series.
