As part of the collaboration of McDonald's and Reading Is Fundamental, a non-profit organization that envisions a world where every child has an access to education, especially to books and reading, Golden Arches has announced that customers can now find books in their happy meal boxes beginning February 2 through 15.
"Reading Is Fundamental is pleased to partner with McDonald's again this year and provide much-needed books to children who have limited access to them," noted Carol H. Rasco, president and CEO. "Books are the building blocks for a better future. They foster the imagination, expand our understanding of the world and fuel a lifelong love of learning. We're pleased McDonald's is helping millions of children discover the joy of reading."
This is actually the third year the fast food giant has been doing the good deed, following promotions back in 2013 and 2015. Reports from the Los Angeles Times say that by the time this year's promo is over, McDonald's will have distributed more than 50 million books to children across the whole country in three years. More like in three months.
Four titles, three of which are Valentine's Day themed, will be this year's happy meal books inside the box.
Beloved characters from last year's stories-Mouse and Pete the Cat will return in the books, along with other equally lovable new characters.To fit inside the iconic Happy Meal Boxes, these books are specially made, just about 4½ by 5½ inches.

Though the program will last only for half a month (the shortest month that is), McDonald's and Reading is Fundamental are trying to give new meanings to Valentine's Day gifts and Happy Meals.As part of their partnership, McDonald's will also donate 100,000 books to the organization, as pledge of support for their cause.
