Back Pain? Here are Some Helpful Tips to Take Care of Your Spine

Health is wealth as they say. Many people who are busy have to make extra effort in order to ensure that they are in top shape. Being healthy is not only about looking and staying fit, it is also about taking care of everything in our body. One body part that we must always take care of is our spine. The spine acts as the pillar for the body weight. Many people said that a person becomes who he is because of his spine.

The Spine is a series of bones called vertebrae which are like building blocks. It is divided into cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacral and coccyx regions. It allows a person to move and bend and gives the body support and structure. For people leaving a sedentary life, they might experience spinal aches, backs aches etc. In order to avoid these aches and pains, an article in Indian Express tells us some simple ways we can do to help us stay fit and take care of our spine.

First, we have to listen to our body. They send us signals that something might be wrong. Most of the time these signs are ignored until it's too late. There are three types of pain that must not be ignored. Traveling pain. This is the type of pain that starts from the neck and moves down to the lower extremities. Pain that goes away upon switching positions and lastly, experiencing pain when physical activity is increased. When these pains are experienced, make sure to consult a physiotherapist to make necessary changes.

Next, we have to keep our spine straight. Always make sure to sit and stand straight. When you're sitting there is extra pressure on the spine because it is bent. Make sure to sit in a balanced way and avoid unbalanced posture. When standing, make sure to distribute the weight evenly on both legs.

Keep moving is the third one. Slumping, or poor postures happen when the muscles are tired. This puts extra pressure on the neck and back. Make sure to change positions frequently. Since most people are working, make sure to take a break from sitting down every half an hour and stretch, walk or just stand for about two minutes.

Finally, exercise. Making muscles stronger and stable can also make the spine strong and stable. This can help us move more efficiently and of course it will make and keep the spine healthy. There are various exercise routines that can help make the spine healthy and strong.
