McDonald's Canada Opens First Standalone McCafe Branch in North America

Citizens of Toronto can now enjoy Egg McMuffins at any time of the day. That's because McDonald's Canada has just opened its first stand-alone McCafe branch in the city's Union Station - the first of its kind in all of North America.

According to the official announcement, the move is part of the company's "ongoing strategy to build on its reputation as a leading coffee brand and showcases the company's passion for elevating the café experience for its guests in ways that are both convenient and relevant." A second McCafe establishment is expected to open in the Exchange Tower at First Canadian Place sometime in 2016.

"We're putting the café in McCafé and making the brand a destination in its own right," said McDonald's Canada president and CEO John Betts in the statement. "The new standalone McCafé locations allow us to build on our strong coffee credentials and create even stronger connections with our brand by offering our guests the more complete café menu they've been asking us for."

The Café will have a drastically different menu form the Burgers and Fries that McDonalds is known for. The press release lists 'Grilled Cheese Sandwiches on multi-grain bread', 'Apple and Brie Croissants', and 'Quinoa and Edamame Salads' as some of the things you can expect to see.

As mentioned earlier, the iconic Egg McMuffin will be able available throughout the day along with a selection of bagel sandwiches both all made with a 'freshly cracked Canada Grade A egg.'

"In creating these new McCafé destinations, we put the modern needs of our guests' busy lifestyles first," Continued Betts. John Betts, "Whether it's a breakfast sandwich to pair with a latte to kick-start their day or a McCafé Affogato as an afternoon 'pick-me-up', we're making it easier for our guests to incorporate McCafé into their everyday rituals."
