South Korean Pop Icon, PSY Releases His 7th Album after 3 Years in Hiatus

Gangnam Style and Gentleman are just among his hit in the last few years. Soon after those hits, South Korean pop icon, PSY went to hiatus for almost 4 years. Last Tuesday, he came out one more time releasing his 7th album titled "Chiljip Psy-da" which translates as Psy's seventh album according to an article in the Korea Portal.

In a press conference held at the Conrad Hotel in Seoul, the pop icon said that it's been too long since he last released an album. He added that maybe it was pressure and stress commenting on the long wait before this new album. He explained that while preparing for this album, he kept thinking that this might not do as well as Gangnam Style and whether or not he should change it. International fans might not be able to understand it. With every line he wrote in the every song, he said that there were voices in his head saying different things and that's why it took a long time to sort things out. Earlier this year, he already had the urge to make a follow up on his sixth album while doing shows at some university festivals.

His seventh album reflects his original idea of doing what he really wanted. Psy said, "I realized that I had chosen this job because I wanted to do what I wanted to do. Why was I paying so much attention to what other people thought?" 'He pointed out that the album includes many different genres. The base is dance music. It also has EDM (electronic dance music), trap, hip-hop, funk, medium-tempo. He tried to include if possible all emotions that people feel while going through life.

There are two major tracks in the album that International fans in particular can look forward to. The latest album included a retro-funk track "Napal Baji" (Bell-Bottoms) and dance track "Daddy". These two tracks were reportedly on top and second place in music charts like Melon, Olleh Music and more. Despite the apprehensions of hi new songs being compares to the worldwide hit "Gangnam Style," he said that he accepts the fact that people have different tastes when it comes to music. He added that this shouldn't make him worried about the result of his work.

The music video for "Napal Baji" received 500,000 views in YouTube.

While "Daddy" reached the one million mark less than 10 hours after their release.
