With the premiere of "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" only a few days away, fans are scraping for any possible bit of information ahead of the world opening on December 17, tickets in hand, but one man not directly involved with the production has already seen it, and his opinions certainly count - so what s George Lucas' "Force Awakens" verdict?
For now, those who have seen the J.J. Abrams-directed film are very few, and of course, the man who created "Star Wars" was honored by Disney with an early preview as George Lucas' "Force Awakens" opinion becomes public.
The Hollywood Reporter recently spoke to Kathleen Kennedy, the current president of Disney's Lucasfilm, revealed that the filmmaker behind Indiana Jones had already seen the film and as she was asked what George Lucas' "Force Awakens" verdict was, her response was simple: "he really liked it"!
Obviously, it has been tough for the director due to the lack of George Lucas "Force Awakens" involvement, and Kennedy said it was tough for him "watching this go on without his direct involvement."
That the man who created the sci-fi fantasy saga likes the new sequel, in which he wasn't involved in the slightest, is as good a sign as any other out there that the seventh episode (which brings back original stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford) will be a true joy to fans - particularly considering how complicated George Lucas' "Force Awakens" relationship has been, and how, as Cinema Blend reports, fans have often derided him over the prequel films.
Earlier this week, Lucas was featured on an interview on The Washington Post, Lucas spoke about how he viewed the new Disney take on "Star Wars" and the subsequent films as "a divorce," saying it had been painful but necessary for him to step back.
Still, it's a breath of fresh air to see that George Lucas' "Force Awakens" opinion is positive - it only makes us want to watch the movie more!
