Last week, Bethesda issued their first update to Fallout 4. Over the past two weeks, many gamers have logged countless hours traversing the post-apocalyptic ruins of Boston in the latest installment of the classic role-playing series.

As is the case with games of this size and scope, players have discovered a few major bugs and glitches that may seriously affect the game. Bethesda has been working around the clock to remedy this and the first major patch is finally out, albeit in a beta state.

The changes include:

New Features

• Number pad keys can now be used for remapping
• Remapping Activate now works on Quick Container

Fixes

• General memory and stability improvements
• Fixed issue where equipped weapons become locked after completing Reunions
• Fixed issue with When Freedom Calls where the quest would not complete
• During Confidence Man, fixed issue where player's health would continuously regenerate
• Fixed crash related to jumping into water and reloading saved games
• Fixed issue where Launcher would not save God Rays Quality setting properly

To download the beta patch, right click on Fallout 4 in your Stream Library, navigate to Settings, then Betas. Pick the Beta Update from the drop-down menu, and select OK. The patch should download and Fallout 4 will now have a [beta] tag next to it in your steam library.

We highly suggest backing up your saved games before trying it out however. No timetable was given for when this update might be officially released. Console gamers are also out of luck as of now with regards to updates.

"Our process for updating the game will include releasing a beta patch on Steam, followed by full release on PC, then release on the consoles. This process has worked well for us in the past and allows us to get more fixes out faster." Said the company in a statement last week.
