Review: Victor Frankenstein Is a Pointless Bromance

The reviews for the movie Victor Frankenstein have been surfacing the internet and most of them have been saying the exact same thing; "Victor Frankenstein is fun, yes, even hilarious, but it is just downright bonkers."As a classic work of art by Mary Shelley, you would think by now that someone would have already just made a version that's straight out of that book and would stop tweaking the details of the movie. Writer and director Kenneth Branagh's "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein" in 1994 is considered to be the only version that is 'almost perfect'. And now, here we are, with another one to critic.

Directed by Paul McGuigan and written by Max Landis (who did some fantastic work with Chronicle and American Ultra), this movie features Daniel Radcliffe as the hunchbacked Igor, a character that doesn't appear in the Shelley original, and James McAvoy as Victor Frankenstein himself. The movie is told from Igor's perspective, being a friend to the young medical student Victor, and as well as a witness to his mad experiments. It is basically a story on how Frankenstein had failed with his monsters craftsmanship.

In a review made by Rene Rodriguez of the Miami Herald, it was like "Someone left s copy of Mary Shelly's novel out in the rain, threw the wet mess into a blender, hit puree and came up with Victor Frankenstein. It was 'scary in a bad way'. To Tasha Robinson of The Verve, this movie is a madcap, ultimately pointless 'bromance' that is of grandstanding speeches and completely unsubtle nudges. Spinoff Online writer Kristy Puchko of The Comic Book Resources said that if you don't find this movie's unsubtle humor than it is indeed not for you. She also added that every scene between McAvoy and Radcliffe is like a shot of adrenaline to her.
