The E.coli infections controversy being faced by Chipotle is not yet over but the Mexican restaurant is now receiving additional reports of bacterial infections.
Various chain locations of Chipotle are being linked to the E. coli infections in three additional states namely Ohio, Minnesota and New York as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found evidences pointing to the ingredients and meal items of the restaurant company as the source of the outbreak.
The CDC has reported at least 45 individuals who have been affected by the said bacteria. According to the agency, 43 of the patients ate at a Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant before they got sick.
"The epidemiologic evidence available at this time suggests that a common meal item or ingredient served at Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurants in several states is a likely source of this outbreak," revealed CDC.
As of the moment, the health officials are still investigating for the specific foods and ingredients that caused the outbreak which hospitalized many people. As a result of the incident, the food company has decided to voluntarily close 43 of its branches in Oregon and Washington.
The chairman and co-CEO of the chain of restaurants in the US has already provided a statement regarding the incident. As stated by Steve Ells, the company is taking the happenings very seriously since it involve the welfare and safety of their customers which is the company's utmost priority.
