Columbus Short Arrested: ‘Scandal’ Star Charged With Battery in Bar Attack

Looks like Columbus Short is in need of some assistance after being arrested Wednesday on a felony battery charge.

The Associated Press reported that Short, a lead actor on the television series "Scandal," is being accused of punching and seriously injuring a restaurant patron during an altercation between the two. The bar fight reportedly took place during an engagement party at Gabe's Bar and Grill in L.A on March 15.

TMZ reported that Short punched the individual after he made a joke about the actor's wife. The man, whose name has not been released, was transported to a hospital via ambulance.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said that the 31-year-old actor turned himself in after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Short was booked by the Claremont Police Department and released on $50,000 bail, according to a statement issued by the Los Angeles County police department.

The AP reported that if Short is convicted, he could possibly face up to four years in state prison.

The actor reportedly has a long history of violence, which includes arrest for violent behaviors and crimes. In February, the actor was charged with a misdemeanor for spousal battery. Reports stated that Short attacked his wife in front of his children at his Woodland Hills home. He pleaded not guilty in that case.

Short was ordered by a judge to stay away from his wife, Tuere Short, at a March 5 court hearing. Tuere reportedly filed for divorce in September, but several reports stated that the two were working on their marriage.

Short plays Harrison Wright, a member of fixer Olivia Pope's team. No reports mention how Short's arrest will effect his role on the hit ABC series. His other roles include "Death at a Funeral," "Losers," and "Stomp the Yard".
