McDonald’s Dollar Menu’s Gone, McPick 2 Takes Its Place For $2 – This Is What New Low-Price Menu Will Look Like

McDonald's, the biggest fast food chain in the world, is currently embarked on a new journey to revert their luck after nearly two years of poor numbers - now, after their all-day breakfast option gave them the best quarter in recent times, they're tackling the McDonald's Dollar Menu problems.

For years, the chain has offered the McDonald's Dollar Menu for customers who are low on cash and just need a quick and cheap meal, but in recent times there has been a decline in consumption of this item as it's perceived poorly - which is why the company has decided to spice things up and create a new low-cost option.

According to Nation's Restaurant News, the company's turning its back on its longtime McDonald's Dollar Menu and taking a plunge into something else at the beginning of 2016, launching their new McPick 2 low cost line consisting of choosing two items (from a menu of four) for $2.

The available options in the McDonald's Dollar Menu 2.0 are the McDouble and McChicken sandwiches, mozzarella sticks and a small order of French fries.

As Business Insider reports, the original McDonald's Dollar Menu disappeared from the chain's options two years back, instead turning it to "Dollar Menu and More" which also meant items that could go up to $5 - and now the menu's overhaul and simplification has reached its lowest cost items.

"Some of the challenges we've had in the US have been somewhat self-inflicted," said the company's CEO, Steve Easterbrook, during a conference last summer. "We moved away from the Dollar Menu and didn't replace it with significant-enough value in the eyes of consumers."

According to Adage, the move from the Golden Arches comes in tune with competing chains, as rival Wendy's recently launched its own new low cost line, the four for $4, while KFC has $5 Fill Ups boxes and Subway went from its $6 Footlong to their new Simple $6 Menu.

The new version of the McDonald's Dollar Menu will be available on January 4 through February 8, with local markets then able of extending it if they consider necessary.
