It's been over three decades since Harrison Ford, then already Han Solo in "Star Wars" and even Indiana Jones, made cinema history once more when starring as Rick Deckard in the adaptation of Philip K. Dick's beloved novel "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?" - and now, as the long-awaited sequel gears into production, Ryan Gosling's "Blade Runner" role is confirmed!
For months, it has been rumored that there's a special Ryan Gosling "Blade Runner" role in the upcoming film, but up until now the Academy Award-nominated actor hadn't actually said anything on the matter - until now, that is.
The actor, known as one of Hollywood's biggest heartthrobs as well as Eva Mendes' partner, recently spoke to Collider about his newest project, "The Nice Guys," when he was asked about those persistent Ryan Gosling "Blade Runner" rumors, to which he had only two words to say: it's true!
"There's a chip in me and if I say anything more I'll explode if I say anything else," the actor added mysteriously, as he was obviously asked further about what Ryan Gosling's "Blade Runner" role would be.
According to Consequence of Sound, there are two names that prompted Ryan Gosling's "Blade Runner" involvement, aside from Ford: director Denis Villeneuve (who's fresh off his latest film, "Sicario") and cinematographer Roger Deakins, who aside from "Sicario" has also worked on a number of impressive projects, including beloved prison film "The Shawshank Redemption" and even the Daniel Craig-led James Bond film "Skyfall."
AV Club reports that Ridley Scott, who directed the original, will still be involved in the yet-untitled project, although he'll be in the executive producer capacity - these days he's busy revisiting another of his big projects, with an "Alien" sequel on the works and the second "Prometheus" gearing into production as well.
Let's wait for more Ryan Gosling "Blade Runner" news in the coming months!
