Victoria’s Secret Model Wears Her Natural Hair at the Runway, First Time a VS Angel Has Done So

Bejeweled and lavishly-styled underwear, elaborate wings and long tresses - these are what we see models don during Victoria's Secret shows every year. And each model does a very good job at it making the show bigger and bigger as each year passes.

This year though, one model decided to go against tradition and walk the runway without the third factor - the long tresses.

Maria Borges proudly sported her TWA (teeny-weeny Afro) as she strutted the catwalk alongside Gigi Hadid, Kylie Jenner, Behati Prinsloo and world's second-highest paid model Adriana Lima. Borges is the first model to go without the long do', wigs or hair extensions and just go all natural on the show, according to Yahoo! News.

She was nervous when she asked the producers if she could wear her natural hair during the show, but she was thrilled when they said 'Yes.'

Aside from making a statement with her TWA, the model also had another perk that she experienced during the preparations. She didn't have to sit long for the hair stylist to prep her. She said it literally took 10 seconds for her to get ready as the stylist only had to put some spray to make sure the TWA was looking its best.

This is Borges' third time being on the show as she had previously done so in 2014 and 2013. But both of those times she had on the long, flowy tresses which every VS angel had on as well. She shared to Elle though that this year provided her with a totally different experience. "Walking out my third show wearing my TWA was one the sexiest moments of my career so far" she said.

The model has some advice for models thinking that they have to straighten their hair to get a job. Borges said "girls are told at an early age that straightening their hair is the right thing, whereas it's simply not. You need to shut down the negative energy and do what makes you feel good. What makes you feel good is what makes you beautiful!" All women can also benefit from this inspirational advice.
