'Downton Abbey' Season 6 & Series Finale: Cast Agreed To Reunite For A Movie; Producer, Actress Tease Film Plans [VIDEO]

Popular British television series "Downton Abbey" is set to come to the big screen next after its finale on Sunday night.

Express reported that actress Lesley Nichol, who played the cook Mrs. Patmore, declared the cast have verbally agreed to reunite for a movie. The news came after Creator Julian Fellowes refused to confirm whether there will be one coming out in the next few months.

Lesley said that the key stars which include Michelle Dockery and Hugh Bonneville are already on board for the project. She said that getting the cast back together for a movie would actually be much easier than rounding them all up for a TV series.

"It would be tough getting everyone together for another season but it isn't hard for a film because you are not all in the same bits," Lesley said. "So it should be OK."

However, the actress said it may be some time before a movie actually gets made because of Julian's other commitments. "He's the one who has to first write the script, and he is kind of busy," Lesley continued.

Julian is presently working on a drama series for American TV called "The Gilded Age." Moreover, he is teaming up with Andrew Lloyd Webber for a Broadway production of "School of Rock."

The 66-year-old filmmaker has previously downplayed the probability of a big-screen version of "Downton Abbey." However, he hinted the other day: "I don't think it's impossible that Downton is given a new life in a different form."

Aside from Lesley, the TV show's producer Gareth Neame revealed in an interview with Radio Times that they are currently in talks about the film spinoff. "We've thrown around some ideas for a film, but that's obviously not something I can talk about now," he said. "It's still a possibility - I can't confirm any definite plans, but it is still something we're talking about, and we would be interested to do."

The show may have ended in the U.K. but fans U.S. will be able to catch Season 6 when it begins airing in January 2016 on PBS.
