Nintendo To Release New Video Game In The US Called 'Yo-Kai Watch', Video Game Dubbed As The Next 'Pokemon'

Nintendo has just released a trendy Japanese video game in North America. According to some, the game "Yo-Kai Watch" is said to be the next "Pokemon" of this generation.

The said video game is considered one of the most popular in Japan as it earned more than $2 billion of sales in terms of toys, games, TV show, movie, dance craze and more which are all related to the game. Due to its popularity, the game developer Level 5-Inc decided to extend the game outside Japan specifically to North America.

'Yo-Kai Watch' is a video game which tasks a player to hunt ghost-like creatures called Yo-kai in Japanese. In the story line of the game, a boy named Nate or the girl Katie (depending on who the player chooses) discharges a Yo-Kai butler which enables the character to communicate with different types of Yo-Kai through a mysterious watch. The said character will then be tasked to collect and hunt all Yo-Kai in order to finish the game.

The videogame is primarily composed of exploration with some combat gameplay. Kallie Plagge provided some comment of the said game in a statement.

"Yo-Kai Watch's combat is a weird but interesting hybrid of real-time and turn-based elements," stated by the IGN game journalist.

In terms of familiarity, it can be observed that "Yo-Kai Watch" is a video game similar to Pokemon. It can be remembered that Pokemon is another Nintendo game which was first launched nearly 20 years ago. Like "Yo-Kai Watch", Pokemon is also a phenomenal game which allows a player to collect magical creatures. During its glorious days, the said franchise sold 275 million copies which correspond to an $8 billion profit in terms of sales.

As a part of its promotion, Nintendo is planning to buy a commercial airtime in movie theaters throughout North America. The Japanese company will also be hosting a launch event in New York in order to sponsor the popular franchise.
