In the early days of January 2015, Peggy Carter, Steve Rogers' girlfriend from "Captain America: The First Avengers" got her own Marvel Cinematic Universe television series, the second of its kind after "Agents of SHIELD" - and as the "Agent Carter" season 2 premiere approaches, casting choices start making headlines!
In a few weeks, Netflix will release the second of its Marvel shows, "A.K.A. Jessica Jones," which will also follow the footsteps of the show starring Hayley Atwell by putting a badass lady as a lead character - but that doesn't mean we're looking forward to the "Agent Carter" season 2 any less.
According to Variety, the "Agent Carter" season 2 just added a beloved TV vet to its cast, as Ken Marino, who most recently co-starred on Netflix's prequel miniseries to "Wet Hot American Summer," has now officially joined the cast of the MCU show, where he will play a mobster called Joseph Manfredi opposing Peggy.
"At Marvel, even our villains need a certain degree of charm as they make life difficult for our heroes," said showrunners Tara Buttlers and Michele Fazekas about the new addition to the "Agent Carter" season 2 cast, Movie Pilot reports. "Ken brings a quality to Joseph Manfredi that only serves to make him even more menacing, adding another layer of depth to our already outstanding supporting cast."
Screen Crush reports that Marino won't be the only new face on the "Agent Carter" season 2, as Wynn Everett (from "The Newsroom") will also join in, along with the likes of Currie Graham and Kurtwood Smith, Lotte Verbeek as Anna Jarvis (Edwin's so far unseen wife) as well as Reggie Austin as Jason Wilkes, a character thought to be Peggy's new romantic interest.
Atwell will be returning for the "Agent Carter" season 2 and so will James D'Arcy and Chad Michael Murray - even Dominic Cooper is coming back as Tony Stark's father, Howard.
