Nicholas Brendon Rehab: Actor Breaks His Silence

On Wednesday, October 28, just days after checking into  rehab, the former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Nicholas Brendon broke his silence. Giving US Weekly an update on his condition  he shared:

"Hi everyone. Depression is a real bitch. Monday night I left for 90 day in-treatment at a very good facility," Brendon, 44, tells Us in a statement. "I want to thank all of you out there who’ve supported me during this very very VERY bad last year and a half. Lots of love to you guys."

Charges raised against the 44-year-old, who has been arrested three times this year includes public intoxication, grand theft and criminal mischief. In a statement, Brendon- "has been aware of his problems for some time – and with each new challenge, he gained a greater understanding of what needed to be done to overcome these obstacles and move forward with his life."

Appearing on the Dr. Phil Show in August 2015, Brendon discussed his recent arrests and alcoholism. He walked off soon after the interview began and explained on facebook his sentiments about it he wrote, "When I was in that seat, I felt that Dr. Phil went for the jugular, talking about some of my recent mistakes, with no build up. I felt that he wanted me to lay the darkest parts of myself on national TV right from the start, and I’m not willing to do that."

Brendon was arrested in Saratoga Springs, on October 1,2015 for attacking a woman in a hotel room. Felony, third-degree robbery, criminal mischief and obstruction of breathing are the charges being raised against him.

After just five months of marriage, the actor separated from his wife Moonda Tee in February.  He said in an interview in March, that his substance abuse issues were caused by his ongoing battle with depression and difficulty dealing with memories of being molested as a child.

"For those of you who have shared your own struggles with depression and other issues with me, it helps me to know we’re not alone, especially when other people tell us to 'snap out of it," he adds in the statement. "If my struggles with depression and substance abuse have helped you deal with your own at all, that’s a silver lining on a pretty black cloud."

Despite his troubles, Brendon is staying positive. "I’m very hopeful that 2014-15 is the rock bottom of my life," he tells Us, "and I’m looking forward to finding the man that my family, my friends, and my fans believe I can be. See you all in 2016."
