Joe Jonas 'Relieved' After Tell-All, 'This Is My Life and This Is My Story'

Joe Jonas reportedly has no regrets about revealing major parts of his life in a tell-all essay for an issue of New York magazine.

According to Us Weekly, the 24-year-old former Jonas Brothers singer has been on the receiving end of negative comments about some of revelations, but the singer said he does not mind.

"I feel really relieved actually," Jonas told Us Weekly. "I was very nervous releasing it. I hit kind of an anxiety wall where I was like, 'S--t am I about to do this? This is kind of nerve-wracking.' But then you just look at it on a different scale. You're like, 'This is my life and this is my story for myself to tell whoever is interested and let them inside the crazy life I've lived!'"

The New Jersey native did not hold back when it come time to discuss smoking weed with Miley Cyrus, losing of his virginity at 20 and dating Demi Lovato while she was abusing drugs. Before the article hit stands, Jonas said he warned his family about some of the things he had revealed.

"I think it's sensitive for someone so close to you to release," he told the magazine. "I wanted to make sure I spoke to them ahead of time and give them a heads-up that this is coming out. They had a very cool reaction to it. My brother Nick was like, 'Hey dude, it's your interview.' That kind of speaks for itself. I felt really good about releasing it."

The singer also discussed his relationship with 21-year-old Lovato and her struggle with drug abuse while they were dating. In his essay Jonas describes an incident when Lovato punched a young woman on the plane because she thought she was being blamed for something.

"I really got to know her and got to see the ins and outs of what she was struggling with, like drug abuse," Jonas wrote. "I felt like I needed to take care of her, but at the same time I was living a lie, because I wasn't happy but felt like I had to stay in it for her, because she needed help. I couldn't express any of that, of course, because I had a brand to protect."

Jonas told Us Weekly that Lovato has no hard feeling about the article and the two are still friends.

"I saw her yesterday. Demi and I are good friends and we have been friends for years," Jonas said.

According to Us Weekly, Lovato commended her former love interest for being brave and revealing to his fans, a different side of himself.

"I want to commend him for how brave he was. He never was able to share his side of the story, he kept it really quiet. I was going through my stuff, and he got blamed for a lot of it," she told the magazine. "When in reality, I have my stuff and we argue like brother and sister now. It's like, 'Dude, what were you thinking?' But it's all good. I was like, Don't be embarrassed or whatever. I still love you. We're still family. It's all good.'"
