Facebook Finally Listened and Got Rid of What Facebook Users Hate

Facebook has officially announced that they are retiring the "Other Messages" folder. Remember that Message option in your Inbox? The folder is only accessible on the web and not via messenger or mobile. It houses all the messages from people you do not know - namely non-Facebook friends.

The Vice President of Messaging, David Marcus, has announced that they're rolling out a better Messaging experience. Now, there will be Message Requests for Facebook Messenger. Marcus promises that this option is a much better alternative than the "Other Messages" folder. This time, you get the choice to accept or decline a message from someone who is not in your Friends' list. The spice of that meatball is the requestor won't even know you've ignored or read their message.

Like he posted, it's pretty simple. If you're friends on Facebook, if your phone contacts are synced with each other or you're already messaging each other previously, then they're all going to go to your Inbox. And the rest? They'll come to you as a request. If someone tries to search for you by name and tries to send you a direct message, you now have complete control of reading it or not. Marcus wishes to make the Messaging Experience simpler and better for Facebook users while they work tirelessly to combat spam.

That may look like a small development but he promises that it's a big step towards a better user experience. Well, Mark Zuckerberg thinks so - he liked David Marcus' post. But that's not what most Facebook users think. If you are able to take a look at the post Marcus made on his Timeline, he's been getting a lot of feedback and comments about unwanted messages and has been trying to answer each concern especially when it comes to unwanted message volume and privacy.
