Natalie Portman Reveals Chris Hemsworth Wife, Elsa Pataky, Stood In For Her In 'Thor's' Final Scene

The passionate kiss that Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth shared in the final scene of "Thor: The Dark World" is not everything it seems.

According to the New York Daily News, Portman, who plays Thor's love interest in the film, was not the female kissing Hemsworth at the end of "Thor 2".

Instead the actor's wife, Elsa Pataky, were a wig and impersonated Portman's character for the final make out scene.  Portman told the Daily News that due to conflicting schedules she couldn't appear in the scene.

"It was for reshoots [after the film was finished] and he was working in Hong Kong and I couldn't get there because I was working on my own film," Portman said. "And so they put his wife in my wig and costume. That's why it was so passionate."

Portman called the switch a "perfect solution." The "Thor" sequel made more than $590 million worldwide and received some positive reviews.

"'Thor: The Dark World' delivers the goods - action, otherworldly grandiosity, romance, humor - above and beyond its predecessor," TheWrap.com's Alonso Duralde wrote.

Hemsworth married the "Fast & Furious 6" actress in 2010 and the couple welcomed daughter India Rose in May of last year. The couple announced last month that they are expecting a second child.

Pataky told People magazine back in May that, despite their busy schedules, she and Hemsworth make time to take care of their family.

"You have to make an effort and try to stay together as much as you can. If we start splitting and doing other things it's not going to last," she said. "It's difficult because you have to give up some things because you want to keep the family together. We try and keep it as normal as much as we can -- like a typical family."
