Batman Arkham Knight's long and controversial saga on PC is finally coming to an end. Publisher Warner Bros. Games has just announced on Steam that come Wednesday, the final installment of their Arkham trilogy will once again be available for purchase on the online storefront.
'At 10 am PDT, Oct. 28th, Batman: Arkham Knight will be re-released for the PC platform. At the same time we'll also be releasing a patch that brings the PC version fully up-to-date with content that has been released for console (with the exception of console exclusives).' Says the announcement.
PC gamers will also finally gain access to features such as Photo Mode, Big Head Mode, Batman: Arkham Asylum Batman Skin, and character selection in combat AR challenges.
This news ends one of the biggest fiascos in recent gaming history; which saw scores of irate customers slam the game's PC version for being poorly optimized for the platform.
During the game's original launch date in June, numerous PC gamers reported various issues with the game such as graphical and audio glitches, frame rate stuttering, and overall poor performance even on computers that far exceeded the games' suggested specifications. The title was overwhelmed with an outpouring of negative feedback on Steam and prompted many to make use of the service's new refund feature to get their money back.
This lead Warner Bros. and developer Rocksteady to remove the bug-riddled title from all online retailers until a solution was found; an unprecedented move for a big budget game from a major publisher.
Whether this update can mend the fractured relationship between Rocksteady and it's customers remains to be seen; but for now at least, PC gamers who chose to stick it out with the title will finally be getting an experience worthy of the platform.
