It's no question that Selina Kyle is one of the most interesting characters in the Fox TV show 'Gotham.' After all, the young thief will soon grow up to be Catwoman and is played by the talented actress Camren Bicondova, who also happens to be an accomplished dancer.
The 16-year-old member of the dance crew 8 Flavahz recently spoke with TVLine to explain that controversial scene where Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee) slapped Selina as revenge for the young thief killing his friend Reggie.
"OK, Alfred slapped her - but in real life, he did not touch me," she said. "I want everybody to know, because people have been really mean to Sean. No actresses were hurt in the making of that scene. It's all good!"
The young actress also stated that the slapping was necessary for the storyline.
"I think it made sense," Bicondova said. "It creates complexity within their relationship, which always makes for good scenes. I dont think Alfred realizes that he and Selina are on the same page as far as what they want for Bruce. Instead, he just sees her as a street thief. I think that they'll both come around, but it will take time."
Camren Bicondova also made sure to confirm that Selina and her friend Bridgit Pike (Michelle Veintimilla) will be working together in the future episodes of 'Gotham.'
"Definitely. They have a long history together," Bicondova said, adding that Selina feels very protective over the future Firefly.
"Bridgit was one of Selina's first friends, and I think Selina feels bad for her. She knows that Bridgit has the ability to be a very strong, independent girl, so she wants to help her become that," she said. "And Selina doesn't like seeing anybody, especially a fellow girl, being treated badly - Selina is very passionate about that. She isn't a very violent person, she doesn't like being violent. So when it comes to Bridgit, Selina wants to help her be able to live all on her own."
Catch Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle in 'By Fire,' the sixth episode of 'Gotham' Season Two, which will air on Fox on October 26.
