Drew Barryomore Will Allow Her Kids To Follow Her Footsteps As Soon as They Are 18

Most of today's renowned actresses has banked on a lifelong experience in the field of acting as their benchmark on how they have achieved so much in their chosen careers. One of which is actress Drew Barrymore who started out very young, when she was cast in  the very famous 80's movie 'E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial'. She was only 7 years old when she took the role in the said sci-fi movie.

Now, the 40-year-old actress who is a mother to 2 kid, Olive, 3 years old and Frankie, her 18-month-old daughter is quite convinced that should her children follow her footsteps in the field of acting, they would have to be in their legal ages. She however expresses her support to her children in whatever endeavors they choose in the future.

Drew has this to say when she was asked if she would encourage her children to become actresses; ''One hundred percent. [but not at a young age] no! Not even a little. Not until they're 18. I know it sounds crazy, but I want them to be kids. But I would by no means poo-poo a thing I love so much!''

Drew has had her share of acting offers at a very young age however she claims that a lot of valuable lessons were learned in the process and she would be more than happy to have her children learn them as well.

In her statement in PEOPLE.com, Drew added, ''People ask in a weird way, 'Would you let them be actors?!' I'm like, 'What are you insinuating, that acting is so horrible?' 

'''What is it that you are saying?' It's wonderful, of course I would encourage it! They just have to be kids.''

The 'Blended" star also has said that she is still ''trying to figure out'' how to parent her daughters. In the cover story of PEOPLE she says that her life with her children and husband art consultant, 38-year-old Will Kopelman is "in abundance" and that the atmosphere of it is "It's perfect and totally Imperfect".

Drew also contemplates on how she suffered post-partum blues after delivering Frankie saying, "I didn't have postpartum the first time so I didn't understand it because I was like, 'I feel great!' The second time, I was like, 'Oh, whoa, I see what people talk about now. I understand."

Drew Barrymore's book 'Wildflower' will hit shelves on October 27, 2015 and her new movie  'Miss You Already' will hit the cinemas in November.
