Only a few months after winning an Oscar for her portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy in "The Blind Side" and while she was in the middle of a scandal when it was revealed that her husband Jesse James had had affairs with multiple women, the star adopted a baby boy who became Sandra Bullock's son, Louis - who is well aware of how the world is outside.
Even though Sandra Bullock's son is just 5 years of age, his actress mother doesn't want him, an African-American child, to grow up without understanding what things are like outside well beyond having a mom as famous as Bullock - so she's certainly teaching him about racism.
In a recent interview with Bet.com, the "Gravity" actress was asked what was it like for her to raise a black child in the midst of social awareness movements such as #BlackLivesMatter and whether she spoke to Sandra Bullock's son about what as out there.
"It's an open conversation that we have," said the "Crash" actress when explaining how she dealt with the subject of racism with Sandra Bullock's son, People Magazine reports. "He fully understands what that means. He doesn't understand why people judge each other based on color of their skin, but he knows they do. He also knows that there's sexism, he knows that there's homophobia. He knows a lot for a five-and-three-quarter-year-old."
According to USA Today, on the subject of Sandra Bullock's son, the star says she wishes she could protect him throughout his entire life and would "ride in a bubble with him" if she could, but seeing as that's unfathomable, she thinks the best way for little Louis to understand what things are like it's important for her, as a single parent, to explain to him what's really going on.
Unsurprisingly for someone who is famously very well grounded on her feet, the Oscar winner's views on how to raise Sandra Bullock's son seem very intelligent and compassionate - you can watch her view interview below.
