National Cheeseburger Day: 10 Most Popular Burger Joints in America

September 18  is National Cheeseburger Day. 

In honor of the big deal, Foursquare put together a list of the most popular burger-oriented restaurants in the nation based on more than 4.5 billion check-ins over the past year.

1. Shake Shack in Madison Square Park, New York:

The restaurant is a popular destination for not only locals, but tourist. It's hard to say no to this chain classic burgers, fresh-cut fries and thick, creamy shakes. The fast food restaurant also serves wine and special milkshake flavors like Monday's limited-edition "Cronut Concrete" with crount holes. 

2. YEAH! Burger in Atlanta, Georgia:

It's hard to figure out what to get when you walk through the doors of YEAH! Burger because everything is on the menu, from Bison Burger to the Cobb Salad, Foursquare reported. YEAH! Burger is a well-known organic, gluten-free and eco-friendly restaurant also serves fries, beer, and 14 specialty sauces at $.50 each. 

3. Stella's Lounge, Grand Rapids, Michigan: 

A restaurant where the menu is full of cheese-stuffed burgers. Stella's Lounge also serves 200 kinds of whiskey and local beer. The lounge also has a arcade game in the back. Since the place is a bar, minors are not allowed after 8 p.m. 

4. In-N-Out Burger in Los Angeles, California:

Picture a pair of triple cheeseburgers with a side of fries. Since 1948, this burger joint has been a famous hamburger chain. According to Foursquare, since the location is neat LAX airport it gets mainly foot traffic, as customers insist on grabbing a cheeseburger straight off their flight. 

5. Super Duper Burger in San Francisco, California

The place offers garlic fires and grilled burger with fried egg and jalapenos are a customer favorite. Foursquare said the line can get a little ridiculous in length, but insist it is worth the wait. 

6. Zombie Burger - Drink Lab in Des Moines, Iowa:

This late night joint is open for lunch, dinner and a mid-night snack. The only zombie-theme restaurant in the area. It also has "Burger of the Week," like maple-bacon croissant "Deux-Nut" burger with cheddar cheese, fried egg, and bacon. 

7. Holsteins at Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas, Nevada:

Foursquare calls this the best burger joint in Vegas. Holsteins lives up to all the buzz with a Kobe beef "Billionaire Burger" and the "Gold Standard Burger" made with dry-aged beef sirloin. Holsteins also serves up tiny sliders, salads, tons of sides, shakes and cocktails. 

8. Burger Joint in New York, New York:

This old-school joint serves simple but amazing juicy burgers, which some say are the best you can get around Mid-town Manhattan, according to Foursquare. 

The brownies are also excellent.

9. Hopdoddy Burger Bar in Austin Texas:

This burger joint grinds their meat in-house daily for their tasty burgers. They top their burgers with roast beef, sliced provolone, caramelized onions, horseradish mayo and an egg. 

10. PYT in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania:

PYT offers varies of burgers such as Fired Guacamole Burger, Hawaiian BBQ Burger. and the Donut Burger. PYT is known as the home to some of America's weirdest and tastiest burger combos.
