Jennifer Hudson's Son Is A Life Saver After The Tragic Murder Of Her Family

Jennifer Hudson said her son saved her life following the tragic death of her family.

As the seventh year death anniversary of Hudson's family is approaching, Hudson looked back and recalled the heart breaking experienced that she had to endure for many years.

"It's frustrating as hell to me to have somebody who ain't lost nothing try to talk to me about it," Hudson said to the November issue of Glamour. "I want to say, 'Don't even bother, because you know nothing.' But you never know how much you can get through until you're going through it."

Back in October 2008, Hudson's world broke apart when her brother in law William Balfour, murdered her mother, brother and nephew. Balfour was arrested and found guilty. He is still behind bars serving a life sentence.

Almost one year after the tragedy, Jennifer and her wrestler hubby David Otunga, welcomed their first child, David Otunga Jr. and since that day she would always tell her son that he was her life saver.

"I tell David all the time, 'You saved my life,'" Hudson said.

Hudson also revealed that at an early age she already started teaching her son about reality and talked to him about race.

"I've started by telling him some of the world's greatest people - leaders and athletes - are black people," Hudson said, "But I also tell him the reality of things."

Hudson also talked about her upcoming movie 'Chiraq.' She said she plays the role of a mother who loses her child to gun violence. Although, it was just an act she said that the whole filming experienced seemed all too real.

Meanwhile, the Oscar and Golden Globe winner is currently preparing for her Broadway debut this month. She will play Shug Avery in a new adaptation of Alice Walker's novel 'The Color Purple.'
