Can Eating Bacon Lead To Immortality? Oldest Person In The World Reveals The Secret To Her Long Life

Bacon lovers might be on to something. If you have been looking for a way to extend your life, all you need to do is eat more bacon! After all, Susannah Mushatt Jones has been having bacon for breakfast every morning and she is still completely active at the age of 116!

In July, the Guinness World Records announced the New Yorker as the current record holder as "oldest woman." Before that, Miss Jones had previously said that she always avoided vices.

"I never drink or smoke. I surround myself with love and positive energy. That's the key to long life and happiness," Jones told the Housing Authority.

Now it looks like she has another secret to her longevity: Every morning, Susannah Mushatt Jones has a breakfast filled with bacon, eggs and grit. There is even a sign on her kitchen that proclaims what every bacon lover already knows: "Bacon makes everything better."

Susannah Mushatt Jones was born on July 6, 1899 in a small town close to Montgomery, Alabama. She was one of 11 children of a sharecropper who picked cotton, but in 1922, Miss Jones decided to move to New Jersey to become a nanny. She later settled in New York and although she never had children, Miss Jones doted on her nieces and nephews.

Bacon isn't the only secret to Susannah Mushatt Jones' long life. She has also confirmed that getting plenty of sleep has aided in her longevity. Her family also adds that Miss Jones has been blessed with a long life for her generosity and love for others.

All those naps and bacon breakfasts may be doing Miss Jones a lot of good. Although she has already lost her eyesight and admits that her hearing isn't very good anymore, she only takes two medications per day and isn't confined to her bed.
