Kate Walsh and her longtime writer-producer boyfriend Chris Case have reportedly parted ways, according to reports. In fact, the former couple apparently broke up months ago.

While neither have released an official statement at this time, a source confirmed their split to Us Weekly in their September 22 issue.

“They are just in different places in their lives and it wasn’t working,” claims Us Weekly’s source. “Kate has been upset but trying to get over it.”

The last time Kate and Chris walked the red carpet together as a couple was at the Chrysler John Varvatos 12th Annual Stuart House Benefit in L.A. on April 26.

The two first started dating in the summer of 2011, after Kate ended a year long relationship with film executive Neil Young.

Although the 47-year-old actress wants to keep her lovelife private last April 6, Kate appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show and joked about her boyfriend who got a severe allergy because of her cat.

"My boyfriend's highly allergic and it's ridiculous," she told Ellen. "His tune changed once we were like, 'Maybe there's some sort of job here for these cats.' And suddenly his tune started to change. We are making an animated series called Cat Stories."

Kate Walsh is best known for her portryal as Doctor Addison Montgomery on Grey's Anatomy before leaving her own spinoff show Private Practice. She subsequently starred as Rebecca Wright on the short-lived NBC sitcom Bad Judge.

Grey's Anatomy creator shonda Rhimes has revealed that she wants the actress back on the show.
Kate is currently enjoying some down time before she heads to the UK for her next project alongside Downton Abbey actress Jessica Brown Findlay and The Americans' Matthew Rhys.

Chris, on the other hand, is planning to continue his love for writing.
