Pizza Hut has just unveiled their latest specialized pizza crust and the consensus reaction around the internet seems to be, why hasn't anyone thought of this sooner?
Dubbed the 'Twisted Crust' pizza, it combines two staples of Italian cuisine, pizza and good old fashioned bread sticks.
As the description suggests, the new pie features a seasoned, breadstick crust along the edge that diners can tear apart and dip into one of the available dipping sauces. Flavors include the likes of buffalo ranch, and cheddar cheese.
The pizza, which was released yesterday, sells for $11.99 and comes with 1 topping and a choice of two dipping sauces.
"We are not afraid to experiment with new and innovative flavor combinations for our food, but sometimes it's the most obvious innovations that amaze us the most - and Twisted Crust is an example of an innovation that has done just that," said Jared Drinkwater, vice president of marketing, Pizza Hut in the brand's official press release.
"We know America loves our pizza, but we have enormous, loyal group of Pizza Hut breadstick lovers out there, too. We believe our new Twisted Crust Pizza is the ultimate flavor combination of these two popular items that consumers will absolutely love."
By company standards, this latest crust innovation is tame compared to previous efforts. Earlier this year, Pizza Hut made waves when they debuted the hot-dog stuffed crust pizza, A pie barricaded by a ring of pigs-in-a-blanket style sausages.
Pizza Hut branches outside of the US have also experimented with some bizarre crust concoctions. For years, Philippine based Pizza Hut outlets have sold mozzarella and sausage stuffed crust pizzas.
Last year, Australian Pizza Hut chains rolled out a Doritos crusted pizza as well as a meat pie stuffed crust.
No word was given on whether the breadstick crust will make it outside the US.
