Will the Iconic Characters of Sons of Anarchy Return for the Mayans Spin-Off?

The American screenwriter, director and producer Kurt Sutter - and the renowned creator of Sons of Anarchy, has unleashed some intriguing detail about his planned Mayans spinoff.

As Kurt Sutter is set to release next week his blood-soaked 14th century drama 'The Bastard Executioner,' Kurt Sutter may go into the world of Sons of Anarchy.

Here's how Kurt Sutter puts it, when he was asked about the original story behind SAMCRO (Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original).

"At some point I do have plans to hopefully do the prequel, which I do see as a one-off 10- or 12-episode thing where we begin in 'Nam and see John Teller and Piney and see how that relationship got created, and bring them back to the States and the obvious external dynamics that were going on with the country and the perception of the war and what an odd kind of perception these vets got when they returned home."

Tentatively, the title of Kurt Sutter's next project is Mayans, but it is confirmed that the setting will be in the modern day. Kurt Sutter said that Mayans is a contemporary story and won't serve as a prequel to Sons of Anarchy.

However, the production keeps it private for now, whether or not, Mayans happens after Sons of Anarchy Season 7. In Kurt Sutter's Mayans, anyone from the Sons of Anarchy characters might be expected to be  casted.

Kurt Sutter explained that the spinoff will have the same subculture as it also got bikers, and the influences of that culture are interesting - where the impacts of the subculture has been already understood by the viewers.

The setting of the spinoff would probably far enough away from Northern California, where it wouldn't touch on the mythology that's already been told. And Kurt Sutter said that as the series progressed, there could be a possibility of some cool, ironic crossovers with familiar characters.
