Today, Keep America Beautiful and Dr Pepper Snapple Group announced a partnership agreement focusing on increasing recycling in city, regional and state parks across the country, Yahoo! Finance reported. Dr Pepper Snapple Group donated $300,000 to Keep America Beautiful. This was primarily to fund the placement of recycling bins to offer citizens visiting public parks greater access to recycling systems, Yahoo! Finance reported.
"We are pleased to work with Keep America Beautiful on efforts to make recycling more accessible for park guests," said Tim Gratto, vice president of sustainability for DPS. The company created goals it hopes to achieve by 2015. These goals include: improve efficiency in energy and water use, decrease manufacturing waste, and conserve packaging resources.
According to the company's official website, "For 60 years, Keep America Beautiful, with more than 1,200 affiliates and participating organizations, has been the leading volunteer-based community action and education nonprofit in the country, engaging millions of volunteers to take part in our programs. In short, our collective efforts prove there's strength in numbers."
"Keep America Beautiful consistently receives high ratings from independent charity evaluators, such as Guidestar and Charity Navigator, which is an indication you can feel confident that your donation will make a difference in the lives of those we touch through our many programs."
"At Dr Pepper Snapple Group, it is our vision to be the best beverage business in the Americas. Our brands have been synonymous with refreshment, fun and flavor for generations, and our sales are poised to keep growing in the future."
The company achieves a strong financial return. On average, Keep America Beautiful supporters provide $24 in community benefits for every $1 given by local governments. The investment is worth it because it achieves cleaner, greener neighborhoods. The company's goal is to contribute 100,000 volunteer hours and average an annual giving level of $10 million in charitable cash donations. Dr Pepper Snapple Group is also providing its consumers with a variety of products. The company is focusing on reducing the calories in its products and creating smaller sized packages.
