Any day now, Netflix should be announcing the release date for its second ever Marvel Cinematic Universe series, "A.K.A. Jessica Jones" starring Krysten Ritter, after the success of the gritty "Daredevil" last spring - and so they're now on to their third show on the MCU, as the "Luke Cage" cast is currently prepping to shoot!
Currently in pre-production, if things go as planned, the third MCU Netflix series should be reaching screens all over the world come next fall, as Netflix and Marvel have said they'd be releasing a show every six months, and the second season of "Daredevil" would come ahead - but still, the "Luke Cage" cast is already being set up.
So far, the only actors on the "Luke Cage" cast were Mike Colter in the title role (reprising it from "Jessica Jones") and rumored Alfre Woodard as villainess Minetta - but there are new additions now!
According to Digital Trends, the new additions to the "Luke Cage" cast include Rosario Dawson (who would be reprising her role of Claire Temple, which she played for the first time in "Daredevil") and Theo Rossi, from "Sons of Anarchy," who will be playing "relentless and menacing" criminal Alvarez, AKA Shades.
However, it's another "Luke Cage" cast addition making the most headlines, as Comic Book reports on a new character joining the series: Mercedes "Misty" Knight, a police officer who turns into a superhero, who will be making her out-of-comics live action debut on the first season of "Cage," played by Simone Missick.
According to Deadline, Missick's character is a former NYPD officer who, after getting a bionic man from Iron Man himself after trouble in the line of duty, ends up launching a detective agency where she helps Cage, something that sounds rather like Jessica Jones herself.
In any case, expect more "Luke Cage" cast news soon!
