A Man Was Detained For 4 Months Because of Meth Possession, Police Found Out It Wasn't Meth After All - You'll Never Believe What It Really Was!

A man hailing from Maryborough in Queensland, Australia was arrested before being detained by police for four months.

The police believed that the man was in possession of crystal meth, which was found in his car.

After tests were done on the substance, police found that it wasn't crystal meth after all. In fact, it was just - wait for it - Epsom salt.

No reports have yet to describe how the salt was actually packaged for police officers to mistake the substance as methyl amphetamine in the vehicle.

What's probably more alarming is the fact that it took forensics four months to test, determine and confirm that the man was not in possession of any illegal substance in his car.

According to the unnamed man's lawyer, Travis George, the four-month detainment could probably have been due to the man's previous criminal history.

However, as soon as the authorities found out that the substance really was salt, the charges against the man were immediately dropped before he was released.

The incident prompted more criticisms regarding the length of waiting time of the Queensland Health Forensic and Scientific Services.

According to NTRSCTN, the department has been deemed to delay forensic testing on a regular basis.

Maryborough magistrate John Smith stated: "For the last 14 years, nothing has been done [about the delays]... once again the government needs to have a look at what they are doing in relation to this."

Of course, the Queensland Health Forensic and Scientific Services denied claims on delays.

"Urgent cases are completed within the time frame required by the police and the courts," said a department spokeswoman.

She further added that the department "was constantly assessing the evidence testing process to improve turnaround times," as per News.com.au.

Hey, at least the man got his justice!
