How to Help Family of Jeff Bush Swallowed by Sinkhole in Florida, Firefighter Relief Charity

The Tampa, Fla.-area community is just coming to grips with the loss of Jeff Bush, 37, in East Hillsborough County, where a sinkhole opened up under his home and presumably took his life. To help the family devastated by the loss, a donation page has been setup.

Jeremy Bush, the brother of Jeff, heard screams and tried to rescue his brother from the hole that had opened up. Unfortunately, he could not reach him, and he was pulled out by rescuers due to the dangerous conditions.

Search for Jeff was called off on Saturday, and he will likely remain in the earth beneath the home.

Bush was described as a landscaper and a "great guy" who would "give you the shirt off his back."

At the time of the incident, Jeremy was in the home together with his girlfriend Rachel Wicker and their 2-year-old daughter Hannah. Fortunately, no one else seemed to be hurt in the incident.

For that, Leland "Buddy" Wicker, the owner of the house and relative of Rachel Wicker, said "I thank the Lord."

Ross McGillivray, a geotechnical engineer, called the incident "very unusual" in that there was a fatality. Although the Tampa suburb, called Seffner, often has sinkholes, they rarely take lives the way they did last week.
