Joan Rivers is notorious for her crude remarks and unapologetic insults. She became a successful comedian and entertainer due to her snide comments and putting stars on blast on E!s Fashion Police. On her latest appearance on the David Letterman show she blatantly called singer/songwriter, Adele "fat". She said "what is her song?" "Rolling in the deep" "She should add fried chicken". She said these remarks as she spoke to David Letterman in regards to meeting the songstress at the Oscars; while he laughed it off he appeared a little turned off by the rude comment.
Joan Rivers' schick is putting people on blast and not really caring about their feelings. In this instance many bloggers feel as if it was a cheap shot; what did Adele do to Joan? David described the star as a sweet woman and then Joan proceeded to crack jokes about Adele's weight. This is not the first time Adele's weight has been targeted, Chanel designer Karl Lagerfield whom is also well known for his outlandish behavior and mean comments apologized to her after publically calling her "a little too fat" in an interview he did with Us Magazine last December.
Unfortunately, this is Hollywood we are talking about an industry that prides itself on vanity and certain beauty standards. Adele may not meet those standards but she does have an amazing voice and now has an Academy Award under belt. Not bad for a 24 year old pop star that has only been topping the charts for a few years. Maybe, Rivers will get the hint that people are dissatisfied with her comments and will rethink offending a woman that is known for her talent rather than a "perfect" figure. Then again it is Joan Rivers and if became light hearted her brand might suffer.
