Google Develops Faster Wi-Fi Router

Google develops a new and simple kind of Wi-Fi router that promises faster and reliable internet experience.

OnHub, the cylinder-shaped router is said to provide the users comfort and ease as the device has no extra cords to be tangled. It has also a single blinking light on the top, unlike the standard router that has many blinking lights that are hard to interpret.

Trond Wuellner, a product manager in Google shared how tedious it is to work on a Wi-Fi related products.

"We spent a lot of time with people who were having all kinds of trouble with their Wi-Fi," the product manager said.

With the different problems involved, Google decided to develop a much simpler router to help the users with their troubles. The new cylindrical router contains 13 internal antennas that has the ability to spot the fastest connection by scanning the airwaves in the surrounding. The 12 antennas were used to cast signal while the other 1 is responsible for measuring congestion on the user's network.

The software of the device helps to monitor channels and frequencies continually, in order to make sure that the user is connected in the most proficient way. Users will have the ability to prioritize specific device in order to acquire the fastest internet speed as possible. This can be useful when the user is doing heavy-data activities such as downloading and video streaming.

With the use of Google's On app, the router can be supervised by the use of a phone. Running networks check, and keeping track of the bandwidth will be easily handled by the app, which is now available for iOS and Android.

Just like the company's Android OS and Chrome browser, the new device is set to update new features and security upgrades automatically.

Wuellner assured the costumers that the tech company's new router is safe and secure in terms of privacy.

"We're actually really proud of the work we've done around making sure OnHub is a trustworthy and secure member of your family," Wuellner said.

The new product will be available in the US and Canada at a price of $199.
