Fans of Hope Van Dyne may rejoice! Evangeline Lilly could not only reprise her role as the daughter of Hank Pym in a future 'Ant-Man' sequel, she could also be putting on the Wasp suit!
According to Collider, the star of 'The Hobbit' trilogy recently answered a few fan questions through the live chat on her official Facebook page. One fan wanted to know if she had already tried the Wasp suit on, and Evangeline Lilly's response was hopeful.
"I was scanned for #TheWasp suit, but then I got pregnant. Let's hope I fit it again! #ineedtime!" Lilly wrote.
Evangeline Lilly later stated that she was already pregnant when she was scanned for the Wasp suit.
The actress also spoke about the difference between the original Hope Van Dyne as imagined by original 'Ant-Man' director Edgar Wright and the final version re-written by Peyton Reed and Paul Rudd.
"She became more relatable and a little less like an original, 1960's comic book character," Lilly wrote. "I LOVED both versions, but the version we settled with fit better in the #marvelverse. I'd still love to do Edgar Wright's version, too."
Hope Van Dyne is originally known as Hope Pym in the Marvel comic books, where she is the daughter of the original Ant-Man Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, the original Wasp. The character takes on the alter ego Red Queen, who does not have the ability to change her size.
In 'Ant-Man,' it is hinted upon that Hope Van Dyne will eventually become the Wasp.
Evangeline Lilly is best known for playing Kate Austen in the hit TV show 'Lost.' She has also appeared in films like 'Afterwards,' 'The Hurt Locker' and the Hugh Jackman sports drama flick 'Real Steel.' In Peter Jackson's 'The Hobbit' trilogy, Lilly played the Mirkwood elf Tauriel, a character that was created for the films.
