The recent D23 Expo has been the source of much 'Star Wars' excitement. It looks like the man who brought back dinosaurs will also be the person responsible for wrapping up the new 'Star Wars' trilogy.
According to io9, Walt Disney Studios chairman Allan Horn has announced that a director has been chosen to helm 'Star Wars: Episode IX.' That director is none other than Colin Trevorrow of 'Jurassic World.'
Colin Trevorrow is clearly happy with the new project and even shared how he plans to deal with 'Episode IX.'
"This is not a job or an assignment," Trevorrow said. "It is a seat at a campfire, surrounded by an extraordinary group of storytellers, filmmakers, artists and craftspeople. We've been charged with telling new stories for a younger generation because they deserve what we all had-a mythology to call their own."
How does he plan to pull this off? Trevorrow called upon the 'Star Wars' creator for inspiration.
"We will do this by channeling something George Lucas instilled in all of us: boundless creativity, pure invention and hope," the director said.
Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy is obviously excited to have Colin Trevorrow on board.
"Colin is someone I've been interested in working with ever since I saw 'Safety Not Guaranteed,'" Kennedy said. "The power of that film paired with the enormous success of 'Jurassic World' speaks volumes about his abilities both as a storyteller and skilled filmmaker. We are thrilled to have such an incredible talent as Colin join our family and step into the Star Wars universe."
Colin Trevorrow has worked on a short film called 'Home Base,' 'Safety Not Guaranteed,' 'Jurassic World' and 'Book of Henry.' The director will also serve as writer and producer in the upcoming 'Jurassic World' sequel.
'Star Wars: Episode IX' will be the last part of the new trilogy and is scheduled for release in 2019.
